HOW TO terminate your postpaid line with Globe Telecom

I finally took the plunge of completely downgrading from a postpaid to a prepaid sim.

It wasn't easy emotionally, more difficult than the actual process of terminating the account.  Look at the bill number, 214!  That's more than 17 years!

I have been using that mobile number since I got out of college, that's *counting with all fingers including toes*... 11 years!  It was previously my brother's number prior to his switch to Smart.

Then again, since mom's passing, it's not easy to still receive monthly billing statements with her name on them.
Note: My mom is the account holder for both Globe mobile numbers we have. 

Aside from that, I don't frequently call or text since there is already Viber.
So another reason for this decision is that I really have no use for such excessive plan.
Yes, plan 499 was already too much for my needs. 

Here's what I did to terminate my mobile number.


HOW I TERMINATED A POSTPAID ACCOUNT WITH GLOBE TELECOM


FIRST STEP: Since I wasn't thinking, it didn't occur to me to call the termination department specifically, I just called their hotline 730-1000.

SECOND STEP: Choose the option to talk to a customer service representative, so you can express your request for postpaid account termination.  You will then be connected to their termination department.
  • You will be asked to verify account ownership.  They will always ask to speak to the account holder, in my case since my mom was the account holder, I told them that she passed on and I wish to terminate the said account.
  • In this case, I was asked to email a copy of my mom's death certificate and a copy of my identification card.

THIRD STEP: You will be given a reference number for the service request.  You can follow up the following day regarding the status of your request.  This is mainly to check if they have received your email containing the documents they asked you to send.

FOURTH STEP: Wait for your signal to go offline. That's it! 
I was told that termination would be effective within 24 hours, but I lost my signal 5 hours after that phone call.
Yes, Globe was very efficient when it came to cutting me out.  I would wish to say the same for other service requests.


TIPS & POINTERS

  • Call 730-1300 for Globe Telecom termination department.
  • Make sure that your 2-year (24 months) contract is up.  Else, you will be charged a pre-termination fee. 
  • Usual verification questions include ACCOUNT HOLDER'S NAME, BILLING PERIOD, TOTAL OF THE LAST BILLING, HOW THE BILL WAS SETTLED (which bank you paid from), WHICH POSTPAID PLAN, ETC.
  • In case you are calling to terminate an account that is not under your name, the front line people (if you happen to call the hotline number) will not be able to help you because they will INSIST to speak with the account holder.  Yes, even if you have mentioned that they have passed on.  This does not make any sense and Globe should really do something about this protocol.
  • Should you be able to successfully verify the necessary information, tell them that you want to set a PIN, then give them a 4-digit PIN NUMBER.  This will be used the next time you make a follow up call.  Just give them the PIN to avoid doing the whole verification Q&A over again.
  • Follow up with them within the time frame you are advised to after you have emailed documents they asked you to send.  This is to make sure that they have received and acknowledged the said documents.  Else, you might be wasting time waiting for your request to be processed when in fact your email have not been received for whatever reason it may be.
  • You may or may not be offered the option to downgrade your plan instead of terminating it.  In my case, I was offered a Plan 399 but I was decided to try going prepaid.
  • Consider planning the termination process towards the end of the billing cycle so as not to incur another month's billing.  It was actually 5 days past my billing cycle when the line got terminated.  I was told that I will be given a pro-rated rate which means I will only have to pay for the days in excess.  Days later I received the billing and it reflected the same monthly recurring fee, but upon confirmation with Globe, the account is cleared and I no longer need to pay for anything, not even a pro-rated rate for the 5 days.
  • Lastly, I know it can get frustrating dealing with the CSR, most especially when they are following extremely strict protocol that does not make any logical sense.  Just keep your cool and remember that they are only following orders and doing their job.  So just try not to yell at them.  :)  It's hard, I know.

  2. hello po. pwede po bang materminate yung globe post paid plan ko. kahit 6 months pa lang? ang laki po kasi ng nagagastos ko every month, kahit po 1 MB lang ang lagpas ko sa data na nagagamit. umaabot pa din po ng 3K yung bills ko

    1. Hello! As far as I know, if you got a postpaid plan + device, there is a 24 month lock-in period. I'm sure there is the option of terminating the plan if that's what you really want to do, but there will definitely be a certain amount to be settled in order to do so. You may want to do some computations whether keeping the postpaid plan or paying for the pre termination fee ++ comes out more practical.

    1. Hi! Most likely yes (you have to pay for it).
      There is a termination fee kasi, depending on how many months away ka pa from the contracted number of months (24 months). You'll also need to pay for the unpaid balance of the device if you availed of one.

    1. It really depends on your usage, for some people those plans are 'sulit' because they really use up that much calls on a normal basis. But if like me you don't call or text that much, it seems like it's more practical to keep a prepaid sim and subscribe to promos as you need them. :)

Same here, 2019 naman last billing sakin and I thought wala ng service kasi I requested termination of the contract for how many times, then last September 2021, I received a bill in my email, 22k ang amount, I was so mad kasi akala ko talaga terminated na yung Globe broadband ko, I won't pay it kasi I already migrated abroad.

    1. I was looking for tips online as well when I was looking to terminate and didn't find much information.
      I emailed (1) valid photo ID, and my mom's death certificate as the account was under her name, sent it to globe_assist@globe.com.ph

    1. Hi, mobile plan po yun pinaterminate ko so I am not sure in the case of broadband if they will still require you to surrender the unit. Chances are hindi na dapat if you finished the contract, but do give them a call to be sure. :)

    2. Hello Cez, from what I know before when I terminated my postpaid account is that you can only retain your sim number if it's PREPAID to POSTPAID.
      I'm not too sure if there have been changes or if it's an available option now in the case of postpaid to prepaid.

  21. pwede po ba papotol kuna ang broadband ko kasi hindi naman binigay ang tamang plan na enaplayan ko...10mb /day. bakit ang natatangap ko kb. lang...nakakasawang linyang ito...parang niloloko sa harap.

Hello, we want to terminate our globe broadband internet more than 7years na kami but this past few months grabeng bagal na as in on & off na ang connection namin kaya we dicided to terminate na lang sana kaso ang hirap maka access sa termination dept ng business, ilang beses na po ako tumatawag sa hotline nila pro pinagpapasa pasa lang po nila kung saan kesyo tumawag daw kami sa ganitong no.etc, baka puedi nyo po kami matulungan kasi monthly pa rin kami ngababayad ng di na namin almost nagagamit..Pls. help us..Thank YOU.

    1. Hello Mady, in my case I wasn't able to keep my postpaid number, I believe the option to use the same number is only available if you're upgrading from PREPAID to POSTPAID. But call them up to confirm. :)

    1. Most likely it is the same process, the difference lang would be whether or not you've reached the 24-month lock in period or not. If you've reached the end of the lock in period, you should be able to request for account termination without any problem. But in the case of early termination, you would most likely be required to pay for the remaining balance of the device you availed.

    2. To clarify, the 24 month contract is not AUTO TERMINATING, hindi po automatically magsstop yun subscription ninyo after 2 years. You have to take note and call them up if you prefer to terminate your plan after the 2 year contract.

    3. Ano po mangyayari kapag na reach kona yung 25,000 credit limit sa globe postpaid ko. Tapos kona yung 24 months contract tapos 5 years kona ginagamit yung wifi broadband namin. Itong pandemic lang tinigil kona magbayad pero hindi parin nag terminate isang taon na hindi binabayaran. May chance ba na kapag na reach kona yung 25k limit mag terminate nang kosa?

      The termination fee will be computed by Globe.
      This is based on any outstanding payments and if you availed of a handset/gadget, you will need to pay for it, the price is factored in in your plan for the duration of the contract, so since you're pre-terminating your contract, they'll have to bill you na for the outstanding balance of the gadget.

Hi maam please do read my comment and please reply..I need an answer finish na ako sa 2years contract ko sa globe broadband ko last november 2019 and good payer ako sa globe but last january 2020...hindi na maayos ng technician ang signal ng globe ko kaya sabi nya wala nadaw silamg magagawa kaya pinabayaan ko nlng yong connection ko kahit mahina...tapos 1month delayed bayad ko...pinutulan na ako.....tapos ngayon ...balik tuloy2c parin billing ko kahit wala na ako connection..pwede ko ba bayaran yong 1month lng na nagamit ko..dahil end of contracy nan ako...ayokong magbabayad diko naman nagamit yong 3months na yon.. Please pwede bah yong 1monnth lng bayaran ko?

Hello po nitong march palang po kami nag umpisa 1299 plan pero kasi sa di inaasahang pangyayari nawalan ng trabaho si papa di na kaya, gusto ko na po iterminate yung contract kahit 2 months 3 months palang kaso due to lockdown wala po silang costumer service ngayon. And i want to settle this as soon as possible

    Just to share Lang sa experience ko about termination.

    Tumwag lang ako sa globe hotline at sinabi ko ipapa terminate ko ung plan ko which 1,999 per month.
    The contract was 2 years pro gang 1year lang ako. Pwd mo naman sya ipa terminate anytime basta babayaran mo muna ung monthly bills. Dapat walang pending bill before sila mag proceed Sa termination.

    Calculation sa termination fee : Nka dependi po talaga sya sa unit kung anong unit ng phone ang kinuha mo. Like skin SAMSUNG A50. They ask me to pay the unit na nagkakahalaga sa 12k. Plus other charge.

  42. Hi everyone, i have the same concern. Nasa Saudi po ako, my daughter is actually using my Globe Internet Plan pero ayaw na nya kasi mahina. Mas OK pa ang magbili nalang ng load.

    For 2 months now I am paying on-line na minimum charge P 599 thru credit card. I would like to cut-off na. Sayang ang 599 per month.

  48. AS far as I know, my 24 month contract ended last December 2019 but nobody called from globe what step do I need to do. Honestly I failed to pay the last month bill due to Ash fall and the Covid19 as well. I was surprised when I recovered my sim and found out to have bills more than what I used to. please advise

    1. Once the 24 month contract is up, it only means that by this time, you can make changes to your plan (upgrade/downgrade) or terminate your account without being charged a pre-termination fee. Should you make none of these changes, your account remains as-is. You will continuously be billed for your monthly plan, they won't contact you as well, assuming that you don't plan on making any changes to your current account.
      Should you have any concerns, you will need to contact Globe to be assisted.

  52. hi, pumunta na kami sa globe center sa sm at nagrequest na kami for termination then nagtanong sila if 2 yrs na kami, and yes, sobra na kami sa 2 yrs, then sabi may tatawag daw, then may tumawag nga, si mama ung kinausap since siya yung holder, tinanong lang daw if magpapaterminate na kami then nag yes naman si mama, akala namin ok na pero nakakagamit pa nman kami ng wifi, nagvisit ako sa site nila and log in and nakita ko na may 98 pesos kami na babayran dahil nga nakagamit pa rin for 4 days, wala naman nakalagay sa site nila na option for disconnection, as of now pinatay na lang namin ung modem, gusto kasi po namin is mawala na ung account, mamaya po kasi tuloy tuloy pa rin ang bills, paano po ba?

Ang sabi 2 to 3 days tatawag daw pero umabot na ng july 12 wala parin so i decide to call customer service. Ang sabi wala daw pong nareceive n letter about magpacut off, so hindi pinasa yung letter ko so pumunta na namn ako nung july 21 Ibang customer service po yung nakausap ko, sya nalang nagsend sa letter, ang sabi nya wait nlng sa call pero walang tumawag. Then nung august 2 nagbilling na namn...tumawag ako nung petcha 3 and 4 walng naghandle sa call ko then this day 5 may naghandle nah....prinocess na nya ask some question, then binigyan nya ako reference number pagtatawag yung termination department ibibigay ko yung reference number for validity....Nakakainis lng po kasi kung na process agad yung request ko hindi sana aabot yung bagong billing... kc sabi ni customer service dapt daw bayaran kc baka hindi iprocess ni termination department yung termination ko..okay lng po ba hindi n iyon bayaran kc hindi agad nila prinases ehhh.

  58. Hello po just ask about globe at home wifi po.. After lockdown nagbill ako sa globe ng 3000 plus something and after tha wet lockdown di ko na ginamit ung wifi deactivated na... Last june i pay 1 month of my bill so my natira pang 2000plus... Then after a month my pumasok na naman na bill kahit di ko na sya gngamit until now umabot na sya ng 6k... Nakailang twag napo ako sa globe hotline nagemail na din ako pero still no response.. Seriously?? Tumatakbo pa din po ung bills kahit di na sya gngamit?? For 2 months?? Even the phone na nawala na connected sa wifi.. Its my 14 bill na po panu po kaya gagawin ko... Nakakastress kasi di na nga nagagamit may bill pa din..

Hi, I already called their hotline number, also i go to nearest store to terminate my postpaid plan on last saturday (9/12/2020), they said already processed and wait their called w/in 24 hrs, but until now no feedback , its almost 3 days left. It's like they are joking , the billing will continue. Supposed to be , if they said it processed w/in 24 hrs, they need to take an action about the termination. It's really really frustrating .

    1. Maybe it's taking longer due to the pandemic, but just make sure to have all details on record, you may be able to use it to request for reversal or pag waive ng fees incurred after the supposed termination of the plan.

  61. Hello po. Tanong ko lang po if kapag nagpa-terminate na po ako ng Postpaid Plan (SIM with Phone), mag-oopenline na din po ba siya saka magiging Prepaid and ma-reretain niya po yung number ko?

    Planning po kasi to terminate na po ng aking plan since katatapos lang po nung 24-yeat contract ko sa Globe last October 10, 2020.

    2. Hello, as far as I know, once terminated... terminated na talaga as in hindi na magagamit yun number na yun. It will not be downgraded to prepaid.

  63. Hello! Kakaterminate lang po ng account ko with globe today. Tanong ko po sana, nawalan po kasi ako ng signal. Not sure if magagamit ko pa rin po ba ang cellphone number ko? Ask ko na din po sana if naretain nyo yung postpaid number nyo? Nawalan din po ba kayo ng signal and bumali po ba ulit? Thanks po.

Hello po, regarding po dun sa pagteterminate ng postpaid account and kung mareretain pa rin ba ang postpaid mobile number, the answer is hindi na po (regarding po ito sa pinagtanungan namin na nag-aassist sa mga Globe stores). Sabi niya, if gusto ma-retain yung number, it's better to renew the contract nalang po but magkakaroon pa rin po ng lock-in period (usually 24 months/2 years) and monthly bills. Otherwise, wala ng way.

  67. Gusto ko po sanang e paterminate yung Globe at Home Prepaid namin, kasi may mga charges na hindi naman alam kung saan galing tapus nag aadd pa. Mga 4 Months na namin hindi ginagamit kasi 1299 lang naman dapat yung kinuha pero yung bill namin khit di ginagamit 1600+ pinapadala. Bali 6 Months palang po na nagamit. Panu po e terminate? Kase ng nabgyare po is tumawag si globe para iremind yung bill and nung nalaman namen sobrang laki is we decided to cut nalang and sabi don 24hrs kapag di nakabayad cut na and ayun nga nawalan connection kinabukasan tas nagtataka lang kame bakit may billing paden pero same amount lagi. August 14 2020 kame nag pakabit tas oct 2020 sila tumawag then tinanggal na namen nung oct. Medyo naguguluha lang po ako kase di po kase kame iniinform ng maayos even yung agent na nakausap namen is di kame ininform about sa telephone sabi ng nag kabit is libre so ginagamit namen but it turns out na may bayad pala.

      Should you be able to successfully verify the necessary information, tell them that you want to set a PIN, then give them a 4-digit PIN NUMBER. This will be used the next time you make a follow up call. Just give them the PIN to avoid doing the whole verification Q&A over again.

Gusto ko lang po malaman gusto ko po na ma terminate yung account/sim ko kasi nawala po yung CP kaya di ko na binayaran yung 6 mos na kulang.. mga 1 year napo nakalipas sa contract namin .. may nag tetext at call kasi na pag di ko daw binayaran is ipapakulong ako.. babayaran ko na sana tung 6 mos na kulang sa 2 year contract .. pero nag 1 year napo ngayun meron po bang penalty na babayaran sa 1 year na due sa contract year? at magkano po? salamat po sa sagot! kasi nang haharas na po kasi.. para matigil gusto ko ng bayaran ang 6 mos pero baka may penalty po kasi 1 year na nakalipas!   77. Hindi po talaga ata mareretain yung number, even when there is actually an option na pwede kc pinapa.ikot lng nila yung mga postpaid numbers. Like in my case ngka.problem with my account, hindi pa tapos yung lock-in pero nawalan ng signal since ngbill sila ng hindi nila ma.explain so hindi ako ngbayad, no signal na ako pero patuloy pa rin yung bill kahit binigay na nila sa ibang account yung dating number ko. Sa bill ko account number nlng ang nkasulat. Pahirapan talaga makawala sa globe. Wala silang awa. ��

  80. Hello po. Pa end na kasi yung contract ko at gusto ko sana kumuha ulit ng new cellphone sa globe eh kaso gusto ko same number pa din sana. Pwde po kaya yun kasi kung hindi eh di ko matutuloy since nagamit na yung number as contact sa mga id's. Any advice po hirap kasi magtanong sa messenger nila. Dalawa po binabayaran kong plan. Yung isa sim only at yung isa with phone. Yung isa sana gusto ko kumuha ng phone ulit since tapos na contract. Hindi ko po tiniterminate ang gusto ko po irenew with new phone but same sim pa din. Hirap kasi papalit palit ng sim e. Salamat. Hindi din pala sakin yung isang sim with phone. Ang phone sa kapatid ko as gift at yung sim sa jowa ko since may sim na ko at ayoko palitan.
