How to get vaccinated for Covid-19 in Quezon City

I finally got vaccinated with my first dose yesterday, August 2, 2021!

Earlier this year, the government started rolling out details regarding the nationwide vaccination plan, the priority groups, and how to register to get inoculated.  I wasn't paying much attention to it because I thought maybe I should let the majority of the population go first and let the commotion run its course.

But as the months pass, a new and more transmissible Delta variant surfaces, a total game changer, which made me reconsider.  The smartest and most responsible thing to do at this point was to get vaccinated as soon as it became available to me/my priority group.

Our barangay, Barangay Sacred Heart, had been doing assisted bookings since April.  It's a manual registration process aiming to help some seniors who may not be familiar with the internet.  My dad was scheduled last May via our barangay's assisted booking, it was a swift process.

A barangay representative dropped by the night before the said schedule, quite last minute but that was fine.  My brother and I also registered through this channel, but us belonging to a different priority group, it was expected that it would take a while.

Fast forward to July, it felt like things aren't looking good, with another potential surge predicted to happen soon, I finally took things seriously and sat down to register again via the QC Vax Easy site.  I registered on July 12 and received a text message from the QC LGU on July 31.

HOW TO REGISTER FOR VACCINATION in QUEZON CITY

1. Visit https://qceservices.quezoncity.gov.ph/qcvaxeasy

2. After a successful registration, you will receive a reference number. Take a screenshot of this page just in case you need to follow up on your registration (but you most likely don't have to, just wait to be contacted).

TIP:  There is NO acknowledgement e-mail or text message after registration, all you really have to do is WAIT for a text message for your schedule.  It may take a while, but 3 weeks to a month is probably the average waiting time.

VACCINATION DAY

Arrive 15 minutes before your schedule.  No need to go an hour early because you were already given a specific time slot.  In our case, we arrived at exactly 12 noon.

We were assigned to Don Alejandro Roces Sr. Science & Technology High School, 12 noon.

It was a little confusing when you first arrive because there were people gathered right there at the entrance, and the registration table was right there upon entry, but that's not really where you're supposed to go.  If I'm not mistaken, I did not see instructions or a step guide.

Upon arrival, you will immediately join the queue, this queue leads to the registration table, where you will be asked to present a valid ID.  They will manually look for your name on their master list, and you will be given a form to fill out.

Queue#1 Upon arrival you line up

Queue#2

You will then proceed to line up again for assessment.  The usher asked us one by one if our blood pressure were okay and if we were taking maintenance medications or not, there was no triage to check BP onsite.  I thought it was protocol to have BP checked prior to the vaccination, not sure if that is only applicable to the A2 and A3 priority groups?

After the assessment where you'll be asked some questions, you will then receive a blank vaccination card.  Fill this out with your information.  After this, you can already proceed to the vaccination area/window/table.  Feel free to take a photo/video to keep as documentation and proof. :)

After the jab, head over to the post vaccination area where you will be monitored for 30 minutes, should you have any adverse reactions, make sure to let the person in charge know.  You'll basically just sit and wait, I think we didn't even finish 30 minutes when we were given back our vaccination cards and were allowed to go home.

The whole process took a little over an hour, not a record-breaking time, but it wasn't too bad. :)

REMINDERS:
  • Wear a mask (double up if you must!)
  • Wear your face shield for extra protection
  • Bring your own pen
  • Don't forget your valid ID
  • NO WALK-INS, the Quezon City organized vaccinations are exclusively BY APPOINTMENT.

In conclusion, the online registration process was easy and the actual vaccination procedure was considered well organized.  Kudos to all the medical volunteers, ushers, etc. who volunteer their time to make the vaccination drive a smooth experience for everyone.

If you haven't yet, register to get a schedule now.  Register and wait for your schedule.  Please do not go to the vaccination sites without a confirmed schedule as walk-ins are not allowed in Quezon City.
